Valvoline sponsored Paul Jorgensen is trying to secure the Formula 1 Title here on the Gold Coast. A massive crowd lined the shores to watch the battle between Jorgensen, Bailey and Halliday for overall honours. International drivers Peter Lindenberg was there as was the flying Kiwi John Herzog.
1991 AFOPDA F1 Powerboat GP Melbourne Watersports Centre - RAW
Craig Bailey in his Motul sponsored boat is on pole for the classic battle at the Melbourne Watersports Centre. The vision is unedited but plenty of on water and pit action from this 1991 event. Huge crowds were there to also witness Bob Halliday come unstuck on the first turn in the Grand Prix.
Bob Halliday leads the race but crashes out spectacularly paving the way for Neil Hancock and Craig Bailey to duke it out for the win in Melbourne Docklands 1993 for Round 3 of the Australian F1 Championship.
NIck Ames turns up to Newcastle with a brand new Darcy Troy boat which proves to be fast straight away. Halliday is looking to secure points towards his first F1 Championship, while Neil Hancok and his #17 Shell Marine Oils boat is also very quick. Last years pole sitter Kay Marshall is also back...
In 1990 the F1 Powerboats headed to Bond University for the AFOPDA Series. This unedited footage shows qualifying and races for F1 and F3. Peter Lindenberg was driving the 2nd Motul boat of Craig Bailey's while Kiwi John Herzog was over in his boat as well.
